My first iOS app is on the App Store. It’s SFMongols, a community app for Mongolians in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I started with SFMongols.com, a place to find local Mongolian businesses. The project grew to include events and stories. Now that community has a native iPhone app, too.
A community app in your pocket
SFMongols brings businesses, upcoming events, and community stories into one place. You can browse the directory and save items you want to come back to.
I built the app with Swift and SwiftUI, connecting it to the same platform behind the website. Working on the iOS version gave me a chance to take what I had built for the web and think through how it should feel on an iPhone.
From testing to the App Store
Earlier this month, I wrote about testing the mobile apps with my running club. Thank you to everyone who tried the app and helped me get it ready.
Publishing my first iOS app is a milestone for me. I’m happy to see this project reach the App Store, and I’ll keep improving it as people use it.
